Dear Subscriber,
Welcome to February's Barley Times - the first of 2010. Due to a very busy period over New Year, sadly January's newsletter didn't emerge but let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year nonetheless!
As of January I've been busy moving into the new Barley Bottom warehouse which is now getting fully stocked. See the photos below.
Lots of enquiries have come in about the AG recipe kits being out of stock - let me apologise - these will be coming back into stock once I've fully settled in to the new place.
- Paul

New BB Warehouse
January saw the official opening of the new Barley Bottom warehouse - if you'd like to pick up an order or just drop in then we're open most Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings or evenings by appointment but please phone beforehand. Here's a couple of photos showing off the new unit (and secretary):

Four New Malts In Stock
This month sees the introduction of four new malts, now in stock from a new maltster, Simpsons, which means stock issues will become less of a problem but turnover of malts will still be high enough to ensure maximum freshness.
Aromatic Malt - Flavour reminiscent of raisins - colour EBC 60
Golden Naked Oats - Huskless oat crystal malt. Exotic ingredient for subtle nutty difference. Colour EBC 15
Imperial Malt - Enhances depth of colour, flavour and aroma. Colour EBC 50.
Roasted Wheat Malt - Burnt toast/roasted coffee flavour, but smoother and more mellow than roasted barley.

As you may have seen, Barley Bottom sell plastic casks like those used within the pub trade as an alternative to stainless steel.
Jim's Beer Kit forum member Yashicamat kindly posted his views on the practicalities of using such a set up for homebrewed beer and gave us permission to post it on the Barley Bottom website.
Read more on how this set up works.
